Forged and machined valve bodies, bonnets, discs, wedges, stems, seats and balls in F304L, F316L, F51, F53, 17-4 PH, Monel 400, Inconel 625 and Hastelloy C276 — ASME B16.34 and NACE MR0175 compliant.

Overview

What is Valve Components?

Valve components are the forged and machined parts that make up a valve: bodies, bonnets, discs, wedges, balls, stems, seats, seat rings, gland followers and back-seat bushes. Steelco supplies these in ASTM A182 F304L, F316L, F51 Duplex, F53 Super Duplex, Monel 400, Inconel 625 and Hastelloy C276, forged to ASME B16.34 and machined to your drawing, with NACE MR0175 compliance and EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 certification.

Product Advantages

Why Choose Valve Components

Forged, not cast

Closed-die forgings to ASTM A182 give a worked grain flow, higher integrity and no porosity — the requirement for Class 900 and above.

Machined to drawing

CNC turning, milling and boring to your GA and detail drawings, with tolerances to IT7 and surface finishes to Ra 0.4 µm on sealing faces.

Sour-service ready

NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 compliant material with hardness capped at 22 HRC on duplex and 35 HRC on 17-4 PH double-aged trim.

Hardfaced sealing surfaces

Stellite 6 and 21 overlay on seats, wedges and discs, ground and lapped for tight shut-off.

Exotic alloy capability

Monel, Inconel 625, Hastelloy C276 and Alloy 20 trim for hydrofluoric, sulphuric and chloride services.

Full traceability

Heat number stamped on every part, with chemistry, mechanicals, impact, hardness and NDT reports bound into the dossier.

Grade Data

Grade chemistry and mechanical properties supplied in valve components.

Chemical composition and mechanical properties are grade properties, not form properties — the same grade keeps the same chemistry whether it is supplied as sheet, plate or coil. The tables below list the specified limits for each grade we stock in valve components, tested and certified to ASTM A182 / A276 / A479. Values are weight percent (maximum unless a range is shown); mechanical values are minima in the annealed condition.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Answers to the questions our Mumbai desk is asked most often.

Do you supply valve components machined to our drawing?

+

Yes. Send the GA and detail drawings with material, class and test requirements. We forge or cut from stock bar, machine to your tolerances, hardface and test, then supply with a full documentation dossier.

Which material is used for valve stems in sour service?

+

17-4 PH in the double-aged H1150M condition and F51 / F53 duplex are the usual choices, with hardness controlled to NACE MR0175 limits — 22 HRC for duplex and 33 HRC maximum for 17-4 PH H1150M. Inconel 718 is specified for the most severe wells.

What is the difference between forged and cast valve bodies?

+

Forged bodies to ASTM A182 have a directional grain flow and no casting porosity, so they are used from Class 800 upwards and for small-bore high-pressure valves. Cast bodies to ASTM A351 are more economical in larger sizes where the pressure class is lower.

Can you hardface seats and wedges?

+

Yes. Stellite 6 or 21 is deposited by PTA or TIG overlay, then machined, ground and lapped to the required flatness and finish, with DPT and hardness verification on the deposited layer.

What testing and documentation do you provide?

+

Chemistry, tensile, Charpy impact at –46 °C, hardness, intergranular corrosion per ASTM A262, ferrite count and ASTM G48 corrosion testing on duplex, plus DPT, UT and PMI — all bound with EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 certification.
